There are more places than ever to advertise yourself nowdays thanks to the internet revolution. As with any advertising campaign, the more places you place your ad, the more exposure you have .. so use them all.
Here is a starting list (I'm trying to limit to the FREE services) oh and don't forget to exhaust your local options as well.

Places to post & advertise yourself

• Craigslist
• Monster
• Careerbuilder - Full service(resume posting & job listing resource); CareerBuilder.com is one of the nation's largest online job site. Search for opportunities by industry, location, company and job type, sign up for automatic email job alerts, and get advice on job hunting and career management.
• Yahoo! Hot Jobs
• Dice - Tech based employment only
• Linked In - This is a complete solution website. Once you sign up you get network contacts and more. I highly recommend using them - heck *I* just linked-in too! Feel free to link to me if you want (Victoria Kozub)

List of Job Postings - Job listing search engines

• Americas Job Exchange - After entering your initial information, you'll be taken to a page offering information on continued education .. you do NOT have to fill that out! Instead, check your the email account you entered during signup, it'll give you a link to bypass that page and take you straight to their huge job search engine. Military welcome
• Local.com - Although they have some paid links, they seem to have a fair list of local openings
• Indeed.com - Job Search Engine
• Simply Hired - Job Search Engine
• Job Bank Info - Provided by the US Dept of Labor; it has great links to localized state employment agencies
• Veteran & Government jobs - If you or your spouse are vets/ex-military you'll find this page very handy for focused link sources
• Employment Guide - Although they have some advertising links displayed, I was able to search for local listings even without signing up! job board for hourly and skilled workers searching for entry level to mid-management positions. Resources include search by city/state and industry/category, a resume builder, job fair listings and an education center.
• Temporary Employment Agency - the only fee is if you choose to run & offer prospective employers a background check (not manditory). If you want to try a temp service, here's one for you. PS they also allow you to upload a video resume
• JobCentral has been approved by The National Association of State Workforce Agencies and has a pretty handy search interface
